Can anyone recommend a dealer for a signed LC photo?

I would really like to buy an authentic signed photo for my wife's 60th birthday. There does seem to be some available, predominantly for across the pond (USA/Canada) but they're not cheap so I would prefer to deal with someone reputable. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Came across this seller on eBay. Seems legit but very pricey  but then again autographs are not my cup of tea ;-)
Has about 5 signed items for sale.

I refuse point blank to buy these items. I saw these people crowding around Leonard when he arrived back at his hotel exhausted after a long show. Maybe a dozen of them at a time, barely letting him get out of the car or van. They would present him with a pile of things to sign and of course, Leonard being the kind man he was, he signed them. Whether the signatures are genuine or not, please do not put money in to the pockets of these people who took advantage of Leonard so blatantly.

Buy his CDs or books or watch a DVD. That is a much better souvenir of Leonard's life and work than a signature that was obtained for a cold commercial deal.

Just my opinion, of course.

And a very good opinion it is Wendy.

Two sides to this though. If anyone really does want Leonard's signature then how else will they get one? I imagine it would be hard to get one apart from ebay or....?

Twice we had been in the same hotel as Leonard and the band, even having breakfast near them. We met Roscoe and Leonard opposite our hotel in Caen, we took photos in the minimum amount of time, same twice in the hotels, a couple of signed photos a short conversation and goodbyes. We spoke more at length with Roscoe and Javier Mas, who were obviously happy to speak at length, as was Sharon. So my point really is that personally, unlike Wendy we never saw him being harrassed but to be fair, we never saw him return to any of his hotels. We saw them leave in different cars/"vans" and there were a few hanging around then but not too many.

So maybe the photos might have come from people like us who never sought out Leonard but were very fortunate to have met him. Mind you, the chance of anyone getting the photos and autographs off Vicomtesse are slim to no chance at best.

I think you answered your own suggestion there Vicomte.

Also, if you look carefully at the photographic "proof" provided for the authenticity of the signature, it is dark, presumably late at night, Leonard looks shattered if not downright ill and the item being signed is proferred on top of a folder and there is at least one more item in the pile for signature. I am pretty certain of my case.

And who can say for sure that the autograph merchants haven't then copied Leonard's signature onto dozens of identical items using the same photo as proof of authenticity?

There are other ways to acquire a genuine signature if you really, really want one. An obvious one for the well heeled is to buy an official piece of art. There are still some signed pieces available via Richard Goodall and other official outlets. Another is to look on eBay for charity listings. Many items were donated to charities. A couple of years ago I acquired a signed CD from a LA based charity. It means nothing to me since it wasn't signed for me but I acquired it alongside another item I did want. Whilst these items will be dwindling now I'm sure there are still some out there.

I receive quite often scans of Leonard's autographs from people who want to know if it is genuine or not.
His signature changed during the years but in several cases I have had to say that it doesn't look like Leonard's handwriting at all. That's all I could say; there is no way to be sure because I'm not a specialist in this field.
Anyway, I am pretty sure there are a lot of forgeries on sale.

Yes true really Wendy. She would never have wanted a photo or anything with a signature that wasn't meant for her personally.
Jarkko, I noticed just a slight difference between Leonard's signature in 2008/2009 and one near the end of the overall "tour" 2012 and it was at the very start with the "Leo"... start but only very slight, in fact my own signature often has differences at the beginning, mind you, no one wants mine, so....
