Dear Jarkko,

Since the post opening this thread was written in Russian and I’m not sure you speak Russian, I’d like to let you know that it contains rather abusive anti-American attacks and call to violence which I could hardly classify as an invitation to a healthy discussion. Don’t know if the thread should be deleted or not – after all, it demonstrates nothing but an excellent example of human stupidity… so I only inform you :) .

Oh, but perhaps it should be translated into English in order that every visitor of the Forum could enjoy it :?

Yours,
TH.

i'm learning Russian, and i'm sure i'd understand quite some of it, if i could read it --- on my computer it is not cirilic letters - it's just a bunch of uncomprehednable signs...

probably because i don't have this cirilic font installed on my computer. could you, perhaps printscreen/post it so i could read it?

On windows, I think there are 3 things;
1) having the font
2) enabling it in the os
3) enabling it in IE

XP comes with a couple of Cyrillic fonts already enabled in the os.

(or see eg: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepage ... onts_e.htm )

You enable one of them in IE via View | Encoding,..., - like this:

Enabling "Cyrillic (Windows)" then makes this look like this:
http://relay.twoshakesofalambstail.com/ ... rillic.jpg

(which looks righter, but i have no idea if it is)

roughly:
title of the poll is: How do you tolerate American pigs?

then options vary from:
kill! to shoot 'em all!

i don't feel like translating the rest (though i do understand a lot of it - my russian is so improving!), but it basicaly calls for people to rise against America...

p.s.
thanx greg

Hi All!

Paula, nooooo, we use maaaaany letters :) . But they transform into that endless "aaaeee" if cyrillic font isn't enabled.
In fact, I think it'll be too much credit to the respected author of the poll if I put here a translation of his/her bullsh*t. If our dearest patriotUSSR wants to be heard by the community he/she should do this job him-/herself. So - excuse me :) ! (My question was rhetorical.)

Jurica, yes, exactly!

any practise is good practise.
besides, i don't find this sort of garbage offensive - it's sort of pathetic. i don't feel hate or anger towards the person who wrote it... i feel sorry for him/her. having so much hate inside and not being able even to formulate it into something constructive...

Hello again,

I must confess I was enraged by this “poll”, and intrigued, as well, as it seemed to be unbelievable that one of our “militant patriots” of that kind (and we do have them here, unfortunately; they’re quite few, but they still are) could get to the Forum. I can hardly imagine anyone of them knows who Leonard Cohen is. I even thought, and what if one of the real contributors of the Board amuses him-/herself practicing Russian in that manner  ? [“a bit” strange idea, but now I’m infected, too, by paranoia concerned with multifold identities  ]

Then I just tried a thread title in the Google search. And got several pages (!) with links to different forums - both Russian and foreign. And having followed a couple of them, found out the same message posted under the same nick. So… well, someone simply feels not quite fine and posts this epistle on the forums all over the world  .

being the only member of this forum who openly talks about his efforts to learn your fine language, i am shocked and outraged by this accusations. on the other hand, i'm quite pleased that i was given the credit of being able to write such a long and dificult text (i'm not THAT good yet)!

...Helven - i do not mean that. i was just kidding.
