The meaning of life is that you will spend eternity being everyone who has ever been and will be. We are all the same person who is having to spend our eternal existence as every living person who 'lived' 'lives' 'will live.'
Or even worse; we are every living thing that ever has/is/will exist.
There is only one living being and each of us is that being, on an eternal merry-go-round.
Get your heads around that one comrades!!!!!!
Byron 'sends/sent/will send, his/her/their regards.' :?

What is the meaning of life?

Post by Sohbet »

Dear Byron, Good post! You can give this one a positive spin or a negative spin (like No Exit). The more I think about what you have said, the way you have phrased it, the more interesting it becomes. I'm going to use your idea as dinner table conversation tonight (we try to keep an elevated tone, ta-da).

Hello Sohbet; I see you also enjoy transcendental meanderings through the cells. Albert says to say "Hello."

to love and to be loved.. to see and to be seen.. but sometimes it is to feel an eternal peace in your mind.. sometimes it is to feel your breath in your heart.. (in my opinion) anyway if you are aware of what makes you live, that means you found the meaning of life.. there is no universal meaning for everybody.. but, if there were, it would be uniting with all universe spiritually and feeling its absolute presence..
that's no way to say goodbye

Hi River ~

For me, you have spoken very well on the meaning of life, both the things you've said, and the qualifier you've added. We all come from such different perspectives, there really doesn't seem to be one, universal meaning of life.

Well, I’m coming back from the “battlefield”. *****-********, ****, **** **** ** **** * ** ******! …….Oooo! :D That’s okay now!
( )

Ballad about love
When, after all, the great deluge was over,
The seas came back within their coastal lines,
Out of the foam of the receding water
The love came out softly to the land.
And, for some time, it faded in the air,
And lasted for an eon and some then.

And some eccentrics that still do exist
Inhale with their full lungs that crazy mix,
Expecting neither scolding nor reward,
And thinking they are free to breath it in
They realize one day that they fit in
Somebody else's intermittent breathing.

But remember: a feeling's like a boat
It's afloat until you realize:
That the words "I love" mean simply that
"I can breathe" and "I am still alive".

There will be plenty of despair and roaming.
The land of love is the most noble land.
The knights of love will have to go through testing
With ever higher standards and demands.
They will be separated by a distance,
Devoid of leisure, sleep without rest.

But nothing in the world can turn them back.
Those madmen do agree to pay it back,
Pay any price, their lives won't be excepted
In order to preserve and to protect
Some indiscernible and magic thread
Which love between them now has extended.

Wind and snow swept them off their feet,
Made them drunk and raised them from the dead.
'Cause remember you have neither lived,
Nor have breathed, if you have never loved.

And most of them have choked with love forever.
They can't be reached no matter what you do.
They are accounted by idle talk and rumor,
And that account is laced with pure blood.
But we will light up candles in the memory
Of those who died from the unprecedented love.

Their souls, among the flowers, will run
And their voices will blend and sound as one.
They will inhale eternity together.
And somewhere, on a fragile river cross,
A narrow bridge across the universe
Holding their breath, they will meet each other.

I will open fields to those who love!
Let them sing awake and in their rest.
I do breathe and that means I'm in love.
I'm in love and that means I exist.
Vladimir Vysotsky
Translated by Maya Jouravel.
I've finally found myself! But that turned out to be a completely different person.

The beautiful "Ballad about love" by a Russian, placed here by my Russian friend. Perfect.

Thank you, Helven/Tanya/Tatiana :D . "I want to thank you, Joan of Arc, for treating me so well."

Love,

Hi Kush,
That’s great you’ve heard of him! :D But I don’t know who Jacques Brel is. I don’t know also about English covers of Vysotsky’s songs. I only found some translations of his song lyrics. If it would be interesting for you you could find them here:
http://vv.kulichki.net/vv/eng/songs/
Of course, there are only texts there… To hear his songs is something different than to read the texts. With his energy, with his rough voice, with those simple sounds of his guitar which only gave the rhythm – he was… so genuine, so real. He had only a few “love” songs like this one (he wrote, for the most part, satirical and “tragic” ones), and in his performance they’ve never been a kind of soft and slobbery “la-la-la” – I’ve always liked that very much.

Elizabeth, thanks! :D By the way, I remember, you told about the meaning LC’ songs had for you. I think, that’s just the same meaning VV’ songs had for me!
I've finally found myself! But that turned out to be a completely different person.
