Re: A Short History of Buying Leonard Cohen Tickets

Dearest John, Ah - this is a sore point with you, isn't it... Between 1993 and 2008 it's the arrival of the Internet that has changed the face of ticket selling. It's also got great advantages. Sure, it's a pain trying to get good seats, but you're able to have news, setlists, and ticket release inf...

Re: Strange LC fan review in the Grauniad

Well, everyone's entitled to their opinion. Obviously someone who prefers the darker songs done in same studio style, 30+ years on. Bless them.

But this word "fretwankery" - excellent! Will steal that one, not heard it before.

Re: GREAT britain, SMALL concerts -

My living room is a perfectly good venue. Decent acoustics, cheap entry, nice crowd, free drinks. Unfortunately no room for all the band, so Leonard will be forced to do a select set of acoustic solos. My bedroom will double as a dressing room. Intermission will be at least two hours. Doo dum dum du...

Re: Managment photo restrictions

Another clarification (hm, I seem to have posted more on this boring legal media stuff than any other topic on this forum!). It's kind of interesting how the general public think things are so much simpler than they are. It's a myth that people 'own' their image where photos are concerned. Copyright...

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

Thanks for the clarification, Jarkko. I know that the production team who were at Glastonbury just automatically presumed Leonard would be filmed (obviously a breakdown in communication somewhere) and only heard that it wouldn't be the case, about an hour before his set. These things happen. For tho...

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

Dear all Well… as some of you know, I'm BBC staff, so I've been inundated with queries lately (some of them from very disgruntled people). I was not directly involved with the Glastonbury coverage, but I’d like to clear a couple of things up so hopefully, we can move on from these discussions: 1. La...

A (year old) interview with Leonard

Hello all If any of you are sufficiently bored enough, you might want to watch an interview conducted with Leonard a year ago, which I've now found the time to put on Youtube. After the Glastonbury thing (which prompted some angry phone calls to me - thanks, but I don't run the BBC, I only work ther...

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

If it's any consolation, a mere 0.9 million people were watching the BBC2 coverage of Glastonbury at the time of Leonard's set. Less than 200,000 were watching the intermittent extra bits on BBC3/4. Everyone else (over 12 million people) were pretty much watching the European Cup Final, or The Royal...

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

Argh.

Believe me, the BBC would not pass on filming Leonard under normal circumstances.
And now the page says:

** Leonard Cohen has chosen not to be recorded for TV or radio on his UK tour **

Might be something to do with the rights negotiations.

Disappointing though.

Re: Glastonbury (June 29)

Oh dear. A few moments ago his page on the site (http://www.bbc.co.uk/glastonbury/2008/artists/leonardcohen/) had been updated with: "Note: ** Unfortunately the Leonard Cohen set was unavailable for filming **" But it's now disappeared. Will try find out. A producer called me a moment ago ...

"So Long, Marianne" by Ravens & Chimes

Everyone I've sent this to so far has hated it. I really like it though! Apparently, so does Leonard: "Cohen’s approval came after hearing a Ravens & Chimes cover of his “So Long, Marianne.” The reclusive singer-songwriter — one of Lack’s idols — “e-mailed us about it and said your record i...

Re: Some Canadian Box Office Grosses

I would offer a caveat about such figures as Box Office Grosses: after a bit of clever accounting and after everyone has been paid, it's impossible to discern what's actually left over in Leonard's pocket (I presume that's the reason these were posted, or idle curiosity). Some high-grossing movies c...
