Re: New 1970-1971 recordings available on Apple Music

I've recently received these recordings in beautiful packaging from a fellow Forum member. The Berkeley Community Theater concert was just 16 days after the concert in Madison that Anne & I attended (Separately-we wouldn't meet for two years). It is a beautiful recording and sends us back in tim...

Re: How Leonard Cohen Lived Between The Hour And The Age

Thanks from me as well. After Esther Cohen died, Lorca was in charge of emptying her apartment in Greenwich Village. Esther had a lot of stuff from Leonard's tours and since Dick & Linda were good friends Lorca gave them things to give to fans. One of the things they sent to me was a watch from ...

Re: LC's black guitar in a Tel-Aviv museum

LisaLCfan, I apologize, I think you are right and it is a Godin guitar. I always thought that LC's guitar had an acoustic body, but apparently this solid body electric is the one he played.

Re: LC's black guitar in a Tel-Aviv museum

Regardless of the heritage of the guitar, what a great museum! Anne & I would love to visit it someday.

LisaLCfan, that is not a Godin, it is indeed a Gibson Electric guitar with steel strings as opposed to the Godin which had nylon strings.

Re: Leonard Cohen, Untold Stories: The Early Years

Thank you so much Maarten! I've watched about half of it and it is good. We have deep fondness for Cantor Gideon Zelermyer from our time in Montreal in 2017. I finished the book a few days ago (which I enjoyed very much). One of the puzzling things about it was that Posner spelled Perla Battalla's n...

Re: Leonard Cohen, Untold Stories: The Early Years

Hi Leslie, I am not quite as far along in the book as you, but I am having a very similar reaction. I found the style a little off putting at first, but as I have become used to it is quite effective. Since the book is mostly dependant on peoples memories and impressions there is much conflicting in...

Re: Leonard fans should watch Mr. Mercedes (also, a bit about Stephen King)

Has anyone else here caught the Leonard Cohen easter eggs in this show yet? Yes, just finished the two season series on Peacock Streaming here in the U. S. First of all, I should say that I am a Stephen King fan and have read the book(s) in this series. I thought the Leonard covers were very approp...

Re: New book on 'I'm Your Fan' and Leonard covers

Finished the book this morning-the end is not as good as the beginning as it talks more about tribute albums in general and several individuals who have specialized in tribute albums. However it is worth getting for the entire chapter devoted to our webmaster and the history of his relationship to L...

Re: New book on 'I'm Your Fan' and Leonard covers

I'm about 2/3 rds of the way through this book and enjoying it very much. Talks much about the late Hal Willner and tribute albums in general and how Les Inrockuptibles chose the musicians and songs. Also how John Cale's version of "Hallelujah" lead to its overwhelming success. I recommend...
