Re: Leonard #10

Just people's overall faves, I'd say. I LOVE Tom Waits, but his voice grates on my ear at times. It's likely a glitch in the translation. Not necessarily good 'singers', but good artists (singular?) yes. Hard to explain. Still... Leonard is there, and here, in our hearts, although 'technically' he's...

Re: Edgar Allen Poe: Alone

What may I ask, is 'craic'? It sounds like a devilishly evil event, and I would attend but for logistics. Still, I'm curious as to 'craic'.

Re: sailors in bars

Hi tom,

Long time no seeum. Well, not 'that' long I guess 8) - time does seem to kind of warp now and again. I wonder? Does this hail the return of the poetry thread's once lauded Poet Laureate? ;-)

Re: criticisms of "Dear Heather"

This about how song goes into another direction, I like Leonard's statement how he choose Democracy's verses from 80 verses he did... To get one version of the story, a prophetic song. Then he admits that not only he had 4 or 5 narrative sin the verses, but that he actually *did record* 4 or 5 Demo...

Re: criticisms of "Dear Heather"

Thanks again, Tom, for the benefit of your hard work. I like the 'alternate Closing Time'. To me, it sounds like something Tom Waits could have done. I guess as Leonard is working at his 'usual pace', now would be the time to be looking at all the discs I've rec'd over the years, and see if I can gl...

Re: criticisms of "Dear Heather"

Well, Tom, if anyone knows, it would be you. I was simply going on a vague memory of noting that his 'former manager' was not credited with the usual 'thank you to ...' as on TNS and Cohen Live, and it was shortly thereafter the proverbial * hit the fan. What 'he' knew, what 'you' know, what 'I' kno...

Re: criticisms of "Dear Heather"

I've given thought to this Dear Heather thing, and unlike TNS, I think Leonard was in a bit of a bind to get it out quickly. TNS was probably not as 'polished' as he would have liked either...I don't know. His whole head-space had to be different then, but then to start work and find out that YOU AR...

Re: T shirt tale

Well, thank you for the info. I thought it 'odd' that it had the same configuration as the Star Trek greeting, esp. after seeing LC's self-portrait in what appears to be a Star Trek shirt - the collar just peeking out. I must say, this makes a lot more sense. I come and go and am not able to 'catch ...

Re: T shirt tale

I don't know why we couldn't take the CD inserts or :o 'record jackets' into one of those silk screen places and have them enlarge the pic,if need be, and just have them screen the image onto a plain black or white T. It makes a statement. Def. for the artistic types. One could even make a 'collage'...

Re: "do you" vs "do ya"

anneporter (anne, if I may), I think you've hit on one of the most intriguing aspects of Leonard's work - he changes things, at the drop of the hat. For instance, the 'original' Bird on the Wire, has turned into something completely different. As with Hallelujah, verses come and verses go - thereby ...

Re: "do you" vs "do ya"

Haha...a fine can of worms you've opened for us now! I'll sit this one out, as I'm certain this could almost turn into a game of sorts. A 'why did he say that' kind of game.' Who knows? I add somewhat redundantly...'Do not' go home with your' ... well you get the drift. So many little contradictions...

Re: "do you" vs "do ya"

It would seem I never rec'd a topifc notif. for the do ya/do you debate. For those that do and those that don't know me - I really don't think that 'do you' was written for its little two word rhyme. My rather lame entry on this follows along in the same vein as 'who knows'. I too like 'do ya' - and...

Re: Computer Drawings & Art

Hello Tom!

Nice to follow a post of yours after such a long time. I remember seeing this posted and discussed about the DH time, and examining the contents of his 'very' neat and tidy desktop. Nice to see 'old' pics popping up again. Ah, yes....I remember...I remember... :D
