Re: Open Mic - update

Hi Ken,

  Yes, but I may have to purchase an Irish shepherd's staff, as I can't find that one now. ;-)

Anyway, Henning may be so hoarse from cheering on his World Cup winning team, that his recovery might not be complete and he'll have to join the audience!

Cheers,
Andrew :)

Re: Open Mic - update

Hi there Dublin participants, Just to let you know that the Open Mic session has now reached full capacity. 8) However, if you are still very keen to perform at this late stage, I can put you on a 'reserve list', which would come into effect with any cancellation by other performers. Cheers, Andrew :)

Re: Open Mic - update

Hi Leinsterdub, Sorry for the delay in replying - I'm assuming the Open Mic session will be held at the main venue, as below (excerpt from the event page in the Leonard Cohen Files website): The venue for the 2014 Leonard Cohen Event Dublin is Liberty Hall Theatre, Dublin 1. It is in the city centre...

Re: Leonard is No. 1 at Glastonbury

That's a great achievement for Leonard :D - considering who else is on the list. 8)

Mind you, the video footage I saw of that 'Hallelujah' performance captured an ecstasy and crowd camaraderie that is hard to imagine being surpassed. ;-)

Cheers,
Andrew :)

Hi Irina, it's delightful to hear your lovely touching story of discovering Leonard, catching up with his music, and it becoming so much a part of your psyche... and of course to have you join us here. 8)

Cheers,
Andrew :)

Re: How to celebrate Leonard's 80th birthday

From Sophia's comments, it appears that we don't need to put our minds to the design consideration, as it quite appropriately will be determined at the local level, though I guess we as a Forum have to ultimately accept (or not) whatever proposal/design they come up with. However, I think we should ...

Re: How to celebrate Leonard's 80th birthday

The title is a code for how to locate the song on the recording or set list. When a writer is quoted, it is from the body of his/her work. A poem without a title is still a poem. A title without a poem is NOTHING. I would argue in this case, the title without the poem is not “nothing”; it is clearl...

Re: please help leonard appear on premier christian radio

andrew...i understand your concern about the suitability of the song in 'christian worship' but I fear that we have now lost 'hallelujah' forever to the god botherers and to the karaoke bars.. ..may i ask as our organiser par excellent of the open mic sessions in dublin will you be observing leonar...

Re: please help leonard appear on premier christian radio

To be honest, I don't feel Leonard's 'Hallelujah' would be a comfortable inclusion in this particular "Christian worship" context and notion. ;-)

Cheers,
Andrew :)

Re: How to celebrate Leonard's 80th birthday

Keep in mind that Hydra is one of the most austere, minimalistic and perfect landscapes in this world. For Hydra "less is more". I like that Dem 8) ... I think we must certainly keep this in mind. I’m sure the hard parts in achieving this project goal will be: firstly, the ultimate permission, whic...

Re: 'Leonard Cohen on Hydra' tribute concert

Hi again Chris,

I'll certainly give the prospect of another venue further serious consideration. ;-)

In the meantime, I'll share with you (by email, as I have your card) some of my Hydra photos that may be of interest to you.

Cheers,
Andrew :)

Re: How to celebrate Leonard's 80th birthday

My idea for celebrating Leonard’s 80th Birthday is a development of a couple of earlier suggestions. It is something that I think Leonard would really appreciate, but not be too embarrassed or conflicted by, and one that would be a very personal and genuine tribute from us fans. What I’m thinking of...

Hi Chris, thanks for that comment - I didn't expect you to pop up here, but welcome to the Forum! :D I will look out for more information from you about your show. Moreover, I may even suggest to you, or facilitate, another performance by you at some point, but with perhaps a Greek restaurant in min...
