Re: Minnesota concert

Leonard & the tour group were far better live than the london concert recording. It was my impression that by the time he made it to my neck of the woods in January, Leonard's singing was so much better than in the various Youtube clips, etc, that I'd heard by that point. Watching the London DV...

Re: About LC not singing, If It Be Your Will...

I'm sure almost everybody here will be familiar with "Undertow" from Dear Heather, where Leonard allows Anjani to step forward into the spotlight while his voice remains a quiet and soul-shaking rumble behind hers. I seem to remember either Leonard or Anjani describing how Leonard wasn't h...

Re: About LC not singing, If It Be Your Will...

To me it mattered not that Leonard didn't sing If It Be Your Will because the truly sublime Webb sisters made it their own in extraordinary fashion. Their exquisite harmonies quite affected me and the sound they made rang in my ears long after the concert. The instrumental members of the band often ...

Re: Leonard Cohen donates concert profits to bushfire relief

Well said, swampfox. Leonard, you truly ARE a legend (Aussie vernacular for all-round first class bloke). Here in NZ we are sitting looking at evening skies turned an eery orange by the enormous amount of smoke rising into the atmosphere more than 1000 miles to the west. It seems everybody in NZ kno...

Re: Auckland, Jan 22

That setlist is correct as far as I recall. No "Miracle" or "Closing Time". The concert was as near to perfection as I've ever seen. Leonard's energy has to be seen to be believed - the skipping on and off stage, the "white man dancing". The sound was superb, the band s...

Re: Wellington, January 20

If anybody follows Jarkko's link to the Dominion Post review they will find a growing list of comments appending the article. Everybody appears to have loved the show, many calling it the best they've ever been to. I'm so excited about my trip to see the Auckland show tomorrow night (the 22nd)! Fabu...

Re: O2 Concert reviewed

I thought you might like to see this piece we ran on Leonard's magnificent gig at the O2 Arena... Luke, that's a nice review, but I have to take you to task on one comment. Leonard's eyes tired? I'm always struck by the sparkle, depth and energy in Leonard's eyes. The eyes are the window to the sou...

Re: Mid Year Concert Grosses

Although I don't really understand the mechanics of the situation, an excellent source has previously informed me that Leonard still receives royalties for his older recorded material. For example, if you go and buy yourself that promised copy of the remastered Songs Of Love And Hate, Leonard's pock...

Re: London July 17

...I, for one, have no doubt he's also doing it for the money. Hi Bela, don't get me wrong. I have no doubt that money is a very important consideration in Leonard's decision to tour. But as that interview makes clear, his other recent successes (Book Of Longing, art exhibition, etc) meant that he ...

Re: London July 17

I'm overwhelmed by the reviews Leonard is receiving on this tour. The whole venture is a triumph of magnificent proportions. I do, however, get a little tired of reviewers constantly referring to Leonard being "forced" out of retirement due to financial problems. If they looked into it a l...

Re: Great interview with Leonard.

Musicians are said to have "chops". It is typical of Leonard's dry humour that he speaks of his "chop".

...we have also heard rumors from Brazilian friends... This is a pattern I've seen on a number of forums devoted to artists I'm fond of. South Americans plead and beg incessantly for the artist to travel to their part of the world, and if that doesn't work (it usually doesn't) they will optimistica...

Re: Do Boys Love Leonard more than Girls do?

I can't really answer the question, but I do know that I am male, very happily married, totally heterosexual, and I LOVE Leonard. He captured my heart long ago. Go figure!
