Re: Poetic Snippets From Songs

1. Entire text of Suzanne, 2. Same for Master Song 3. I leave the lady meditating on the very love which I, I do not wish to claim, I journey down the hundred steps, but the street is still the very same. (from Love calls you by your name) 4. I stand in ruins behind you, with your winter clothes, yo...

Re: So what has 2008 brought us - mainly Cohen-wise?!

Dear womanfromaroom, A late reaction, as we are well into 2009, but the LC moment that I look forward to is buying the DVD/CD set. Where I currently live there aren't any good CD shops, but I will wait.... and in the meantime remember the great evening in Amsterdam. Indeed, beautiful capture on came...

Re: Last year`s man

This is a general question, not just about LYM: where can I find analyses of LC's songs? The front page has a link to Analysis, but just a few analyses are posted there. I would really very much like to read poets'/song writers'/ artists' thoughts and analyses about, well, all his songs.

Will the concert in Melbourne, scheduled for Tuesday, still be on under these circumstances?

Re: London O2 Arena, November 13 - 14, 2008

I want to sing along with those who hate sing-a-longers, and people who can't stop jabbering during a concert (like in Amsterdam during the first part of IIBYW). LC is different from rap or house concerts.

I don't live in Australia, but close enough nowadays. I would love to see him once more, it would be worth the trip.

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LEONARD!

Dear Leonard,

A very Happy Birthday from a "co-birthday boy".

After a 35 years wait I finally got to see and hear you for the first time in 2 concerts during the Summer Tour, and I can't tell you how much it did to me. I hope to congratulate you for many more years to come.

Re: A Short History of Buying Leonard Cohen Tickets

My history of buying LC tickets is very short, and is nothing compared with John's 11 concerts. Two recent concerts is all I could attend during all those years since 1969 or so. And if it hadn't been for on-line booking I would probably not even have had that luck.

Re: I thought I was alone!

IHave I just been unlucky in not coming across like minded people in everyday life or has anyone else found the same as me? In the early seventies I had a few friends who also were fans. In later years a friend or colleague would comment that they liked "Suzanne" or so but I have never come across ...

If that is the interpretation that paddieu was referring to I understand why he/she finds it so startling. I never thought of it.

I like cdb's categories. I definitively prefer the Early Period.

Re: Songs of Love and Hate - should it have a warning?

I always preferred the first three albums, especially # 1 and 3) above all that followed. I am slightly re-appraising that now after attending concerts of his current tour, but once that overwhelming feeling has gone I am sure I will return to his earliest work, that for me represent the essential L...

Re: Reappraised LC songs in light of the current tour

Hi UrPal, I had a good laugh about your pre-punksters remark. You're right of course. I am one my self and I do like well-sung melodious songs (even my favourite hard rock band of my younger years is no longer considered hard rock but rather a melodious rock band  ). I agree with your preferenc...
