Re: BEST COVER VERSIONS OF A LEONARD COHEN SONG OF ALL TIME

Young up and coming Irish superstar David Keenan just did his version of "So Long Marianne" on the Joe.ie show. It's a beautiful piece of work. It's on the Joe.ie facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/manstuff/videos/1624744624226644/ I may be in a minority but I found the vocal embellishment of ...

Re: BEST COVER VERSIONS OF A LEONARD COHEN SONG OF ALL TIME

one of the best amateur renditions I have ever heard, and i would definitely say equal to any professional singer, is this incredible version of Hallelujah. One music expert and author of the video "How to sing hallelujah badly" wrote a comment and simply said, "amazing!" You have to hear this and ...

Re: New unauthorized CD: LC - The Eternal Classic

Isn't a cover picture of Leonard playing the guitar "left handed" a bit of a give away as to its authenticity, or lack of it?

Most appropriate.

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away

Given that there appears to be a "right" to post what you wish, and to do so repeatedly; and given that what I considered to be inappropriate and offensive has been edited slightly since yesterday maybe the post of "Unspoken Words" should also be repeated, as "surrender" did yesterday. "Please just ...

Am I in a minority finding the "Optional final verse" both inappropriate and offensive?

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away

Well said Dannycarey! It could be added that when criticising someone for not answering in a "full sentence" then attention should be paid to one's own contribution and ensure that a sentence does not begin with "and" - "And when were you 20 or 21?" In any case, what you meant in your answer was obv...

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away

I wrote a poem Leonard, It’s the best that I can do To try to tell the world the way I feel ‘Bout losing you. Your poetry of sadness.................. (Optional final verse) Your timing it was perfect When your heart it ceased to pump At least you will not have to bear Four years of fucking Trump. ...

I sincerely hope you are right. I have since checked on Amazon.com. They seem to know their prices somewhat better - $12.62.

Cost of "You want it darker" on Amazon.co.uk

I do not know if anyone has seen the price Amazon in the U.K. have put on the pre-order for the new album. At £22.46 for the CD I would have thought that someone in the industry is hoping to make a huge and unjustifiable profit and I am sure that it is not anyone involved in the actual performance.

Re: Does LC write ALL the music?

Hartmut Are you saying that if anyone was writing a melody and was using a piano as a "hearing aid" then that melody would be different to writing it using a guitar or a flute or any other instrument as that "hearing aid"? Somehow I don't read the quotes from Leonard to mean that. Rather I see them ...

Re: Does LC write ALL the music?

Joe. Sorry to disagree but composing is just that and with the exception of any limitations imposed upon the theme/melody by the instrument for which it is written, it is not written in any different way. Using any instrument to assist in "hearing the composition" does not alter the basic process of...

"Hallelujah" - in Welsh

Cor Glanaewthy, a 167 strong choir from North Wales, performed "Hallelujah" in Welsh on the final of Britain's Got Talent on Saturday May 30th.

An excellent choir, an excellent arrangement and an excellent performance. I am sure Leonard would have approved if he had heard it.

Re: Live in Dublin Sound

Having contacted Amazon about the "faulty" DVD being out of sync. they were extremely helpful and sent a replacement immediately. Sad to say the replacement is exactly the same with lack of synchronisation between audio and video. Obviously Amazon cannot be expected to do the quality control that So...

Re: Live in Dublin Sound

Jerry wrote "I'm not sure that any of these copies are actually faulty. I haven't heard anything about faulty copies on any of the many Amazon reviews and elsewhere. It may just be that Dublin was just poorly mixed and produced?" I find it hard to believe that this is a fault with the recording and...
