Re: Do you like flamenco also?

Oh, Tchoco!

Dance is one of my great loves, and your pic of the Flamenco is very compelling. When I was in Mexico City, I had to forgo a Flamenco 'extravaganza' due to uh...an unfortunate and sudden illness.

My photo-blog has many such beautiful posts. Thanks for the post.

Linda.

Re: Go No More A Roving

Send off/conversation...who knows. I came to a different conclusion after reading the forward to Layton's Droppings from Heaven. But, that was published in the late '70s - and is so much water under the bridge. Once again, we can only guess how everything came together. The writing and release of De...

Re: Go No More A Roving

OK, you're right. So why did he even bother? Most of LC's fans (by remarks made in this very forum) could have lived without On That Day. Given the time from 9/11 to the actual 'release' of Dear Heather, On That Day disappoints even more than it did when I first thought about it. Mind you, the song ...

Re: Go No More A Roving

Funny thing. I rec'd a topic notification for this thread, after such a very long, long time. So, I may as well go on record by saying that Leonard's so called 'tribute' to Irving Layton (great poet that he was), was a lazy rip off (of Byron's poem of course), set to muzak at a the very last minute ...

Re: My take on the BoL (Glass) cd

I just happened to receive a topic notification for this thread, after much, much time away from the forum. In the re-reading of the thread, I have to say: "Joe, that was one hell of a good post you gave us," (I count the more than one entry as one sole post). 'tis a pleasure to reread in ...

Re: Robert Plant, Band of Joy, Electric Proms bbc radio 2 Oc

Haha... Great stuff - love that tune, and yes, I've seen that before, but might invest in the disc. I just have a 'thing' for Robert Plant (as you likely know). The Egyptian musicians give it a real 'mystical' edge. Speaking of which, another cover, but without the tell-tale Page chords, is a great ...

Re: Robert Plant, Band of Joy, Electric Proms bbc radio 2 Oc

Diane, If you're still out there, a friend linked me to this cover of Kashmir by Jethro Tull of all groups. This girl is a firecracker! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHsxmjpkeFI And that is the original member, Ian Anderson, on the flute - the guitar is very true to that of Zep's. By that I mean th...

Re: Robert Plant, Band of Joy, Electric Proms bbc radio 2 Oc

Hi Diane, Glad you had the opportunity to see IMGL. You can see how it set me on a journey to find the old Led Zeppelin - Page just brought back so many memories. He had such a story to tell. As for Jack, yes, I'm with you in that the punk is not the favourite aspect of his talent for me either. It ...

....it's six in the evening, the end of December.... I'm writing to say thank you for posting... What a great thread. Through everyone's pics and remembrances, it was almost as if I had actually attended...damn! and I had the ticket and everything, but... Thanks to IrishMar for being there, thereby...

Re: Leonard Cohen's Bibliography (open project)

Marvelous! And 'only in British Columbia'! I would have thought that Montreal (McGill) would have included something similar in their English Department (they likely have), still it's a wonderful surprise to see how much credence western Canada gave his poetic offerings. But that's the difference, M...

Re: Robert Plant, Band of Joy, Electric Proms bbc radio 2 Oct 29

Hi Diane, No need to respond if you've found this topic wearisome - but for me, it's a bit of a search into what I found so appealing about Zeppelin in the first place. Back in the day, it was about the big guitar, Plant's long high wails AND his oh, so low, and strategically oomphed jeans. haha..! ...

Re: Robert Plant, Band of Joy, Electric Proms bbc radio 2 Oct 29

Hi guys, Yes, I've had to bail on Leonard. So sad! When it looked like he wasn't going to make any stops in Canada and the tour was shutting down, I decided to take some time with a friend back east and booked a flight. I could have booked a flight to Vegas (they're usually cheap from Vancouver), bu...
