Re: Mother Heroin and Me

it was the dreadful Jeff Buckley version. Leonard who? Ta Ken This post disappoints me. Buckley's version of this song is an incredible achievement and LC owes much of his current popularity to its popularity. For me it was a very brave move for a young singer songwriter to use this as the centerpi...

Re: Whats your favourite Leonard Cohen's song?

I hate threads like this... Hearing the opening to Suzanne and knew straight away I would be hooked. That was 17 years ago. The Girl who gave me the tape left me for a surfer. The very next girlfriend I had taught me how to play the fingerpicking style. She left me for a house Dj. These days I don't...

Guardian booklet Sat 28/06/08

Just to let anyone know that there is a free booklet with the Guardian (English Newspaper) today. Was walking past a newsagent and saw the mans face on the front cover. First time I have ever seen LC in a national paper without some reference to Doom and Gloom. Good on them. Its in a booklet called ...

Re: cohenchords.com

Hi, didn't know about the site so thanks. I haven't tried the songs in earnest but had a look at Famous Blue Raincoat for you. I notice they say to play down a full step. I never play along to the record and I use a different chord stucture that doesn't involve any re-tuning. The opening chords bein...

Re: What is your favourite Cohen CD?

Being a long time Cohen fan but fairly new to the forum I am surprised by just how much "Recent Songs" is liked. I am obviously missing something. I am also not much into "The Future".

Thanks for posting this- would have missed it. Like the Smiths and Sinatra as well so it was great.

Not sure about Trevor Horn though

Hahahahahah

Nice one Greg.

On topic, I honestly think Book of Longing is a great Cohen poetry book and very accessible for new guys.

Re: Worst ever LC tracks

Queen Victoria is one of my favourite Cohen songs. Full of loneliness, wit, and longing, to me its a Cohen classic.

As for not liking Bird on a Wire... I am in the wrong forum?

Unreleased Songs- What and where

This has probably been covered elsewhere but I couldn't find it so... Having all of Cohen's albums I was interested to flick through the net one evening and see that his first three albums had been rereleased with bonus tracks. I then was able to download Store Room and Blessed is the memory + some ...

Re: London, 02 Arena, July 17

I was lucky enough to see The Man during The Future tour, (maybe '95?) I was blown away by the venue, the sound was amazing. He began the second set with Avalanche - just his guitar. To hear those notes echo around the old building and mixing with all that history felt so uplifting. I can't see the ...
