Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin September 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

Yes, beautifully said. This is THE song that captured my heart - and I am not a youngster! I listened to it over and over and it seemed to bring a sort of peace to my soul. I've wondered many times since then--"Why Marianne?" I was suffering a great loss myself at the time. Now I believe ...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin September 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

Thanks for such a comprehensive review of the week, musicmania. I can only imagine how it must have impacted on you seeing the roses you gifted Leonard with on the stage that night. I've no idea if these were they, but towards the end of Saturday night's concert I was struck and moved by a close-up ...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin September 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

I like seeing him outside though, especially in the dark, with the vaulted sky above and nothing to impede the melodies and his voice drifting off into the night. Oh, exactly. Kilmainham is a beautiful venue because of that. If the powers that be could shift the next tour back into the warmer month...

"So Long, Marianne"

My precious memories go back to a time when it wasn't just a song to singalong to.

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin Sept 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

There's always going to be thin line between the more casual fan enjoying the occasion and perhaps upsetting the more committed devotee. Yes, I agree. Very difficult to resolve this because different people have different expectations and ideas of what constitutes enjoyment at a concert. One major ...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin Sept 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to why "So Long, Marianne" is so popular among the Irish fans. To answer my own question, I have a theory of my own, as the daughter of Irish parents. I think it is because it is such a good sing-along song. The Irish folks I grew up around alw...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin Sept 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

LC concert - Saturday 15th Like Tuesday's concert, last night's was superb. If possible, I enjoyed Leonard and the musicians even more last night - not because I thought Tuesday's performance was any less but because I was less overwhelmed by the overall experience of being there. I was able to focu...

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Dublin Sept 11, 12, 14 & 15, 2012

Thank you Dublin Thank you Mr Cohen I don't care if it was cold or if people went to buy beer. I caught two international flights to see this concert. It was wonderful. I got there early for the soundcheck and was hanging around the gate when suddenly I turned arond and there was Leonard Cohen. The...

Yeah, I think the purity of the violin brings the concert to another level. God, can't wait to get back there on Saturday.

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Hi, I'm new to the forum though not to Leonard Cohen. He's a staple in my life (if a poet and an artist can be classed a staple). I was at his concert in Kilmainham last night. The whole experience was wonderful, even surpassed my hopes, and felt like 1 hour instead of 3 - great things always fly in...
