Atheist Love Song
According to Rene Descartes
where our bodies end our minds start
But he knew best as a man of the chart
that lines both connect and set apart
Like lovers linked at hand and heart
mind and body must never part
Like the artist and the art
body and mind must never part
where our bodies end our minds start
But he knew best as a man of the chart
that lines both connect and set apart
Like lovers linked at hand and heart
mind and body must never part
Like the artist and the art
body and mind must never part

Poem from the Hill
A girl I once met she claimed she saw beauty her dress was civilian but she swore it was her I said, now dear stranger I'd like to believe you but beauty's been hijacked of that I am sure She laughed and decided I must be a madman I said, now dear lover you know that's not true At first she seemed a...

I don't think the first verse of the poem is saying he is gentle as much as it's announcing a sort of detachment on his part. In his earlier poetry, and especially in 'The Spice Box of Earth' as well 'The Favourite Game,' Leonard assumes the persona of stranger/wanderer. Like Breavman in the novel, ...
