You spent a lot of time kneeling
To read the traces of life
And when I think I get the feeling
It's time to move to next line

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away
We'll be hearing from him baby, long after he's gone
He'll be speaking to us sweetly from a window in the Tower of Song
And we will love it. Again.

Re: How to flag Valencia clip as inappropriate
I watched it on youtube. Sorry guys, you are oversensitive if you want to red flag it (useless effort, anyway). The video shows strong voice performance, no sign of anything wrong. He faints and whole band runs to help him there. That's it. In other video we see people hearing speech and their appla...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Bratislava August 28
Definitely the level understanding the English is not high enough to sing Leonard's lyrics which are not easy to remember either (say my favorite Take This Waltz). Also the quantity of great songs is overwhelming. Maybe if they make a video projection of his lyrics for a slow shorter song (I'd choos...

Re: CONCERT REPORT: Bratislava August 28
beautiful poem on someone who is so touching and passionate and serious but far too dynamic and real to ever get pathetic Thanks. You are right. That's why I hate if people talk about him in pathetic way. I doubt they really understand. A vlastne mozem pisat aj po slovensky. Pred nami vychadzala pa...

A few thousand people sit in a hall Is it big or is it small Well I come out of my room A loner breathing through the gloom You spend a lot of time kneeling To read the traces of a life And when I think I get the feeling It's time to move to the next line I wish Mr. Cohen would say few more words be...

A soundtrack for ...
Do you think Cohen would be great soundtrack maker for (your favorite)movie director? I would like to see an union of Woody Allen's "relationship" half-romantic, half-comedy (with his Bergmann's dreams as in the start of Stardust Memories, well and shots of New York City) and Leonard Cohen...

oh thanks.
Oh Thanks. I was afraid i could miss something. In my opinion his songs are melancholic, both music and lyrics. It's not a shame at all. In fact a lot of top art is connected to melancholy. Of course, a melancholy itself is not enough. If I have to describe his songs by one sentence: English words e...

funny
Could you bring few samples of those funny lines?
It's not that I doubt it. I just maybe pass by them or maybe not heard those songs yet. I can feel gentle irony then and now.
Thanks.

Mistake
When I first heard it I had no idea about triangle motif.
I thought: He writes to her, she left for other man and let him and their daughter (Jane) alone, he also leaves a message for the other man.
Just to see how could you be mistaken especially if English is not your first language.

My Leonard Cohen
In mid 90's or later I found a webpage with samples of Juraj Kukura (Slovak actor) singing Leonard Cohen's songs (with Czech lyrics). One-minute samples sounded great so I looked for originals. I found beatiful English in very nice music atmosphere. Waltz, No Cure For Love, Everybody Knows, I'm Your...
