Leonard's Montréal mural ... smiling

Leonard's mural in Montréal ... It's well done I think.

I just don't understand why the artist used a photo with such a grim expression as the template for the painting.

Here's my attempt at subtly rectifying this ...

Mashup of a Sylvie Simmons song and Leonard's poem "A Thousand Kisses Deep"

Sylvie Simmons kindly (on Facebook) posted this mashup I put together. It combines her (awesome) song "Moon Over Chinatown" with Leonard's recitation of his (no less awesome) poem "A Thousand Kisses Deep". Thanks. I like it.

I'm surprised, though, by the lack of backwards voices and dancing little people in the video ...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

This is a very long thread ... Has someone already mentioned Emmylou Harris' excellent version of "Absent Mare": "Ballad of a Runaway Horse"? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLnncuskFhc Leonard wrote this about it: "Thank you for singing that song of mine. You brought it to a place I could never get...

The line "working for the Yankee dollar" is a quote from the Andrews Sisters song "Rum and Coca Cola" (1945).
For the sake of accuracy: I suspect that phrase has been in use well before the "Rum and Coca Cola" song.

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

Hi Vickie, Although in this first song, there was that weird segue into a couple lines about rum. What was that all about? It's a musical joke: The line "working for the Yankee dollar" is a quote from the Andrews Sisters song "Rum and Coca Cola" (1945). So LC decided to use a few more lines from tha...

I hope they don't trot out a hologram ...

Maybe they will use his voice from tape - or even video footage?

Elvis did some concerts recently ...
